First Grade Poem Night

The first grade had a poem night where all of the first graders (that wanted to participate) could perform some of the poems they had learned through out the year. Sophie said she was nervous but she did a great job.

Garage Shelves

While Mark, Tommye and Maw were visiting for Lola's birthday we of course put Poppy to work. We always have some kind of home improvement project started. (Notice I said started...never finished!)

Mark and Brian put up some shelving in our garage...this will help with all of the clutter we have in there. I can't help it....I am a pack-rat...but it has to be genetic!

Make-Up Party

Even though it makes me a nervous wreck, I let the girls put make-up on each other. They had a good time and as always...looked beautiful!

Our Fort

The girls and Daddy built a fort. Daddy then starting cooking supper and did not want to join them in the fort so they talked Mommy into it. Daddy then became the Dragon that we were having to hide from.

Natalie is 7!

Natalie had her 7th birthday party at Skates Alive in Owensboro.








We all had fun.





Soph didn't keep the skates on for very long but still enjoyed herself. Brian and I even joined in and skated.

Welcome Emmy Matthews

Our new cousin "Emmy" Emmerson Rose Matthews has arrived. She was born on Thursday February 12th. She weighed 6 lbs 5 oz. Congrats Chris, Jen and big sister Avery!

Sophie for President

Durbin had dress like your favorite President Day to celebrate President's Day as well as Abe Lincoln's 200th Birthday. Sophie originally wanted to be Barack Obama, thankfully Mommy talked her out of that (I can make costumes but come on!) and we decided on Abe Lincoln. Sophie was so excited to dress up!

We were able to find the jacket, shirt and pants at Goodwill. The pants were a little short but I told her that was okay because Abe was really tall too.

The hat was made from a cowboy hat she had for Halloween. I cut the brim down to about an inch all the way around then we fashioned the stovepipe out of FedEx envelopes and then covered the whole thing in black fabric. Her necktie is just a hair ribbon.
